Welcome to a brand new month full of potential. As you probably know by now, it is also time for this month's free pattern. I had a request for this one which was so much fun.
This month I tried a skirt-short, you know the shorts with a skirt part to the front. Since that is also the focal point to this outfit I only added a simple tube top. This can be a fun outfit in any colour.

Materials:
8 ply yarn (used Filatura Di Crosa Zara), 2mm needles, tapestry needle, sewing needle and thread, button, stitch holder, scissors
To Fit:
29 cm Fashion doll with modern standard body
Test square:
8sts & 10 rows stst = 2.5 cm block
Abbreviations:
k - knit sts - stitches k2tog - knit 2 stitches together inc - increase by knitting into the front and back of st yo – yarn over

Cast on 30sts
1x1 rib 20 rows
Cast off
Sew back seam
Skirt shorts
Piece 1
Cast on 10sts
1x1 rib 1 row
Stst 8 rows
Next row: Cast off 2sts, k to end
Next row: p
Keep sts on a holder
Piece 2
Cast on 19sts
1x1 rib 1 row
Stst 8 rows
Cast off 2sts at beginning of next two rows
Now knit over piece 1 & 2:
K15, k8
Start with a purl row and stst 7 rows
1x1 rib 2 rows
Cast off in rib pattern
Piece 3
Cast on 10sts
1x1 rib 1 row
Stst 9 rows
Next row: Cast off 2sts, p8
Stst 8 rows
1x1 rib 2 rows
Cast off in rib pattern
Skirt piece
Cast on 14 sts
1x1 rib 1 row
Row 2: k
Row 3: p12, k2
Repeat rows 2 & 3 another seven times
Next row: k
Next row: p11, k2tog, yo, k1 (buttonhole)
Garter st 2 rows
Cast off
Sew crotch. Sew back (Fig 1)

Sew inner leg seams (Fig 2)
Sew skirt part to side edge.
Sew side seam to finish (Fig 3)

Sew a button to hold skirt part in place.
