Knit the pieces in order and keep them next to each other on the extra 2mm needle

Piece 1 – Sleeve
With C1 cast on 18sts
Row1: (WS) k2, *p2, k2* rep * - * across
Row 2: p2, *k1, yo, k1, p2* rep * - * across
Row 3: k2, *p3, k2* rep * - * across
Row 4: p2, *sl1,k2, psso both k sts, p2* rep * - * across
Rep rows 1 – 4 once more
Row 9: p2tog, p to last 2sts, p2tog (16sts) Cut C1
(Change to C2 and stst 4 rows
Change to C3 and stst 2 rows)
Rep ( - ) another 3 times, cut C3
Change to C2 and stst 2 rows
Cast off 2sts at beg of next 2 rows
Cut C2 and keep sts on the spare needle

Piece 2 – Front
Cast on 26sts

Knit as piece 2 but DO NOT CUT YARN

Neck
Now knit over all the pieces like this:
Back – k2tog, k16, k2tog, Sleeve – k2tog x2, k4, k2tog x2, Front – k2tog, k16, k2tog, Sleeve –
k2tog x2, k4, k2tog x2 Cut C2
Rejoin C1 and: p3, p2tog, p24, p2tog, p21 (50sts)
Now knit:
Row 1: k2, *p2, k2* rep * - * across
Row 2: p2, *k1, yo, k1, p2* rep * - * across
Row 3: k2, *p3, k2*, rep * - * across
Row 4: p2, *sl1, k2, psso both k sts, p2* rep * - * across
Rep rows 1 – 4 another two times
Cast off

Sew the neck edges together, turn over to sew the sweater seams.

Variations:
This pattern can be knit in 1 colour or 2 colours also. 
Change the stst to another pattern stitch. 
Knit more stst rows to make a dress. 
Add a snood for the cold or a beanie.

Sammy's long sleeve dress

Materials: 4ply yarn in two colours (used Patons Big Baby) and 2mm needles

Abbreviations: See post from 4 January 2024

You knit the pieces in order and keep them next to each other on the extra needle.

Piece 1 – Sleeve
With C1, cast on 12sts
1x1 rib 6 rows
Change to C2: kfb, k10, kfb (14sts)
Next row: p
* Change to C1 and stst 4 rows
Change to C2 and stst 2 rows*
Rep * - * 3 times more, cut C2
Change to C1 and cast off 2sts at beg of next two rows (10sts)
Keep sts on the spare needle

Piece 2 – Front
With C1 cast on 18sts
1x1 rib 6 rows
*Change to C2 and stst 2 rows
Change to C1 and stst 4 rows
Rep * - * six times more
Change to C2 and stst 2 rows, cut C2
Change to C1 and cast off 2sts at beg of next 2 rows (14sts)
Keep sts on the spare needle next to piece 1 (to the right)

Piece 3 – Sleeve
Knit as piece 1
Keep sts next to piece 2 on the spare needle

Piece 4 – Back
Knit as piece 2
But DO NO CUT YARN
Now knit all the pieces together:
14 from back, 10 from sleeve, 14 from front, 10 from sleeve
1x1 rib 5 rows
Cast off in rib
Sew the seam

Variation: 
1. Knit it all in one colour. 
2. Knit 16 rows at neck to roll over.
3. Chance the stst to a another stitch pattern.
4. Add a belt or other decoration.
5. Knit the front and back longer to make a long dress.
