Materials:
8ply yarn (used 4 Seasons Marvel acrylic), 2mm needles, tapestry needle, small button
Abbreviations:
k - knit p - purl sts - stitches k2tog - (decrease) knit two stitches together yo - yarn over
Test square:
8sts and 10 rows stocking stitch = 2.5 x 2.5cm
To fit:
Mattel Barbie with standard body, tall body and athletic body or any similar fashion doll
Dress
Cast on 30sts
1x1 rib 40 rows
Now divide for armholes and back opening
rib 5sts, k2
Next row: k2, rib 5
Repeat the last two rows four times more
Next row: rib 5, k2
Cast off 4sts, rib 3, keep these sts on a holder
Rejoin yarn to the next 16sts, k2, rib 12, k2
Next 10 rows: k2, rib 12, k2
Next row: cast off 4sts, rib 8, cast off 4sts
Keep these sts on a holder
Rejoin yarn to the last 7sts
K2, rib 5
Next row: rib 5, k2
Repeat these two rows four times more
Next row: k2, rib 5
Next row: rib 3, cast off 4sts
Place all sts back on one needle (back, front, back)
Rejoin yarn and rib 14
Next row: cast on 3sts, k3, rib 14
Next row: rib 14, k3
Next row: k3, rib 14
Next row: rib 14, k1, yo, k2tog (buttonhole)
Next row: k3, rib 14
Next row: rib 14, k3
Cast off
Sew a button opposite the buttonhole. Sew shoulder seams. Sew ¾ of back seam.
Bag (make 2)
Cast on 5sts
Row 1: k
Row 2: inc1 at beginning and end of row
Repeat rows 1 & 2
Garter st 7 rows
Next row: k2tog, k to last 2sts, k2tog
Next row: k
Repeat these last two rows (5sts)
Cast off
Sew edges but leave an opening at the top. Make an i-cord of 20cm and sew to sides for shoulder strap.
