Bigger Baby Cradle

This one has more room for the bigger babies. I am planning on knitting one without the hood and put in on a stand. When and if this work I will share some of my pictures. 

Materials:
8ply yarn (used Sean sheep acrylic) but any brand works 3.25mm needles

Abbreviations:
k - knit    p- purl    inc - increase (used knit into front and back of same stitch)   dec - decrease same as k2tog (knit 2 stitches together)    st(s) - stitch(es)

Bottom
Cast on 6sts
Row 1: k
Row 2: inc 1 st at beginning and end of row 
Repeat these 2 rows until 12sts on needle
Garter st 36 rows
Next row: dec 1 st at beginning and end of row 
Next row: k
Repeat these 2 rows until 6sts left
Cast off

Side
Cast on 80sts
Moss st 6 rows
Knit 4 rows garter st
Cast off

Sew the side around the bottom on the outside. It will not be turned.  Sew the side seam going up on the inside.

Handles
Make 2 of your choice
- Chain 18sts
- Make an i-cord of 7cm
- Cast on 18sts and cast off
Do not sew it to side yet...

Hood
Cast on 22 sts
Knit 4 rows garter stitch 
Start with a p row and stst 7 rows
Next row: (k1, k2tog) repeat across, end with k1 (15sts)
Next row: p
Next row: (k1, k2tog) repeat across (10 sts)
Next row: p
Next row: (k1, k2tog) repeat across, end with k1 (7sts)
Next row: p
Next row: (k1, k2tog) repeat across, end with k1 (5sts)
Thread yarn through sts, secure and sew hood to side on one end...
Now you can sew the handles on too.

Your cradle is now finished. Bellow is some extras or bedding for the cradle. This is only for the bigger cradle

Insert for bottom (like a thin mattress)
Cast on 6sts
Row 1: k
Row 2: inc 1 st at beginning and end of row
Repeat these two rows until 12 sts on needĺe
Garter st 30 rows
Next row: dec 1 st at beginning and end of row 
Next row: k
Repeat these 2 rows until 6sts on needle
Cast off

Pillow
Cast on 8sts
Stst 12 rows
Cast off
Fold in half, sew 2 sides, lightly stuff and sew closed

Cover
Cast on 8sts
Row 1: k
Row 2: inc1 st at the beginning and end of row
Repeat these 2 rows until 16sts
Garter st 20 rows
Cast off

Smaller Baby Cradle

DK yarn of your choice  3.25mm needles

Abbreviations:

Bottom
Cast on 6sts
Row 1: Knit
Row 2: Inc at beginning and end of row
Repeat these two rows until 12 sts.
Knit 30 rows
Next row: Dec 1st at beginning and end of row
Next row: k
Rep these last two rows until 6 sts left
Cast off

Sides
Cast on 54 sts
Knit moss st for 6 rows.
Knit 4 rows
Cast off
Sew the side to the bottom.

Handles (make 2)
Chain 18 sts or Cast on 18 sts and cast off.

Hood
Cast on 22 sts
Knit 4 rows
Start with a p row and stst 7 rows

Alex's pants with pockets

Side pockets (make 2)
With C2 cast on 8sts
Knit 2 rows
Stst 10 rows
Cast off

Pants
Begin with one leg:
With C1, cast on 28sts
1x1 rib 1 row
Stst 60 rows
Cast off 2sts at beg of next 2 rows
Cut yarn and keep sts on holder. 
Knit another leg, but do not cut yarn.
Now knit over both legs (48sts)
Next row: p
Next row: k
Now start to divide:
Back p12
Cast on 6 sts, k to end (18sts)
Starting with a p row stst 7 rows
Cut yarn and keep sts on an extra needle.
Rejoin yarn to center for front and p24
Row 1: k1, k2tog, k to last 3sts, k2tog, k1
Row 2: k1, p to last st, k1
Rep rows 1 & 2 another three times (16sts)
Cut yarn ant keep sts on an extra needle
Back
Rejoin yarn to other 12 back sts and Cast on 6sts, p18
Stst 8 rows
Do not cut yarn. Now knit all 3 pieces together:
K12 from back, place rem 6 sts behind the front 16sts and knit 1 st from both needles together
x6, k4 from front, place the other back piece behind the front and knit tog 1 st from both
needles x6, k12 from back (40sts)

Cast off in rib

Sew crotch and back seam. Sew pockets onto legs. Sew leg seams

8ply yarn  (used Sean sheep acrylic and Birch Creative print)  2mm needles x3

Now place frill 1 in front of this frill. Knit together 1 st from both needles, rep across (50sts)

Sew outer frill. Sew then inner frill and back. Gather the last knitted rows to make an opening 
as seen in the main photo. 

Variation:
Knit the frills in garter stitch or any other pattern stitch. 
Make the whole dress in 1 colour
Add a button to the front top where you gather the knit rows. 
Add lace to the frill edges.
Knit it in stripes.
Embroider flowers to the upper frill.

Diapers and beanies for 7cm Mattel babies

These babies are 7cm in length and is made by Mattel. The same patterns will also fit the slightly longer 7.5cm baby. 

Materials: 
3ply yarn, 2mm needles, needle and tread, 2x 4mm buttons per diaper

These babies are made by Simba Toys. They are 7cm in length. Left has a bigger head with painted hair (girl) and right has a smaller head with no hair (boy) these are just my own opinion. They came in packaging as girls but I thought the right one can be a cute boy.

These babies are only 6cm in length. They can not move so the diapers has tiny buttons. I bought mine in South Africa. Both use the same pattern.

Babies, babies and more babies

 Do you like teeny tiny babies? 

From left to right:
1) 4.5cm Mattel baby, 2 & 3) 6cm 3D printed babies (girl and boy), 4 & 5) 7cm Simba babies, 6) 7cm Mattel baby and 7) 7.5 cm Mattel baby

This is part of my baby collection... but as you can see they need clothes. And this brings me to the point of this post. Over the following weeks I will post knitting patterns and maybe some sewing ones too, for clothes and other items for all these little ones.

This mystery knit is an outfit that has 2 items. 

Materials: 
8ply yarn in colours of your choice. I use Sean Sheep Acrylic 
4mm and 2mm needles  and a button

Test square:
8 sts and 10 rows stst = 2.5x2.5cm  using 8ply and 2mm needles

Abbreviations:
k - knit   p - purl    k2tog - knit two together    sts - stitches   stst - stocking stitch    p2tog - purl two together    yo - yarn over    

With 4mm cast on 54sts
Garter stitch 4 rows
Continue in pattern:
Row 1: k
Row 2: (k4, p1, k1) repeat across
Row 3: k
Row 4: (k4, p1, k1) repeat across
Row 5: k
Row 6: (k1, p1, k4) repeat across
Row 7: k
Row 8: (k1, p1, k4) repeat across
Repeat rows 1 - 8 another four times
