Materials: 

8ply yarn (used 4 Seasons Marvel), 2mm needles and a tapestry needle. 

Abbreviations: 

k - knit     inc1 - increase 1 by knitting into the front and back of the same stitch    k2tog - knit 2 stitches together 

Test square: 

Cast on 8sts, stocking stitch 10 rows = 2.5 x 2.5cm 

To fit: 

A 29cm fashion doll with modern standard body 

Cocktail Dress

Knitted side to side in garter stitch 

Cast on 30sts

Rows 1 & 2: k

Row 3: inc1, k to end

Row 4: inc1, k to end

Repeat rows 3 & 4 another five times

Row 15: cast on 10sts (shoulder strap), k52

Row 16: inc1, k to end

Row 17: k

Row 18: inc1, k to end

Repeat rows 17 & 18

Row 21: cast off 14sts, k to end (42sts)

Row 22: inc1, k to end

Row 23: k2tog, k to end

Row 24: inc1, k to end

Row 25: k2tog, k to end

Row 26: inc1, k to end

Row 27: k

Row 28: k2tog, k to end

Repeat rows 27 & 28 another eleven times

Row 51: k

Cast off

Sew side seam. Sew shoulder strap to back.
