Materials:
8ply yarn (used Heirloom Color Works and Bendigo Woollen Mills) 2mm needles, tapestry needle, stitch holder, button
Test square:
8ply and 2mm needles
Cast on 8sts and stst 10 rows = 2.5 x 2.5cm
K - knit p - purl sts - stitches stst - stocking stitch inc1 - knit into front and back of the same stitch k2tog - knit 2 sts together yo - yarn over sl1 - slip one stitch psso - pull slipped stitch over
To fit: 30cm male fashion doll with modern standard body
Hooded shirt
Used Heirloom Color Works 8ply acrylic yarn in Orange
Back
Cast on 20sts
Garter st 2 rows
Stst 28 rows
Row 31: k
Row 32: k2, p to last 2sts, k2
Repeat rows 31 & 32 another eight times
Next row: cast off 6sts, k8, cast off 6sts
Keep the 8 sts on a holder for hood
Front
Cast on 20 sts
Garter st 2 rows
Stst 28 rows
Row 31: k
Row 32: k2, p to last 2 sts, k2
Repeat rows 31 & 32 three times more
Row 39: k
Row 40: k2, p7, k2, p7, k2
Row 41: k
Row 42: k2, p7, k2, p7, k2
Now divide and knit each side seperately:
Row 43: k10
Row 44: k1, p7, k2
Repeat rows 43 & 44 twice more
Next row: cast off 6 sts, k4, keep sts on a holder
Rejoin yarn to other 10sts
Row 43: k
Row 44: k2, p7, k1
Repeat rows 43 & 44 twice more
Next row: k4, cast off 6sts
Now knit over all sts, begin at middle front
Front - k4, Back - k8, Front - k4
Next row: k1, p14, k1
Next row: k
Next row: k1, p14, k1
Next row: k2, (k1, inc1) repeat to last 2 sts, k2 (22sts)
Next row: k1, p20, k1
Next row: k
Next row: k1, p20, k1
Repeat the last two rows another nine times
Cast off
Sew hood and side seams. Leave arm holes open. Make 2 i-cords of 4cm and attach for drawstrings.
Used Bendigo Woollen Mills 8ply wool in leaf green
Cast on 22 sts
Stst 3 rows
Start with a k row and stst 24 rows
Cast off 2sts at beginning of next two rows
Knit another leg the same.
Now knit over both legs (36sts)
Next row: p
Next row: k
Now divide and knit separate
Back 1
Row 1: p9, cast on 6sts (15sts)
Row 2: k
Rows 3 - 9: stst
Cut wool and keep on separate needle
Rejoin yarn to Front 1
Row 1: p9
Row 2: k6, k2tog, k1
Row 3: p8
Row 4: k5, k2tog, k1
Row 5: p7
Row 6: k4, k2tog, k1
Row 7: p6
Row 8: k3, k2tog, k1
Row 9: p5
Cut wool and keep on a separate needle
Rejoin wool to Front 2
Row 1: cast on 2sts, k2, p9
Row 2: k1, sl1, k1, psso, k8
Row 3: k2, p8
Row 4: k1, sl1, k1, psso, k7
Row 5: k2, p7
Row 6: k1, sl1, k1, psso, k6
Row 7: k2, p6
Row 8: k1, sl1, k1, psso, k5
Row 9: k2, p5
Cut yarn and keep sts on a separate needle
Rejoin yarn to Back 2
Row 1: cast on 6sts, p15
Rows 2 - 9: stst
Now continue to knit with Back 2 and Front 2
Row 10: k10, place front 2 in front of back 2 and knit together 1 st from each needle x5, k2
Row 11: k2, p15
Row 12: k14, k2tog, yo, 1 (buttonhole)
Cast off in knit pattern
Place front 1 in front of back 1 and knit together 1 st from each needle x5, k10
Row 11: p
Row 12: k
Cast off in knit pattern
Sew crotch. Sew 2 cast on sts of front flap to other front and half of the flap. Sew pocket flaps. Sew leg seams. Sew back seam. Sew button opposite the buttonhole.
