Materials: 

4ply yarn (used Patons Big Baby) 2mm needles

Abbreviations: see post from 4 January 2024

Tension test: 

4ply 2mm

10sts and stst 12 rows  = 2.5 x 2.5 cm square 

Pockets (make 2) 

Cast on 10sts

1x1 rib 1 row

Stst 12 rows

Cast off

Shorts

Begin with 1 leg

Cast on 24sts

1x1 rib 1 row

Stst 26 rows

Cast off 2 sts at beg of next two rows

Cut yarn and keep sts on holder. Knit another leg but Do Not Cut Yarn

Knit over both legs (40sts)

Starting with a purl row stst 9 rows

1x1 rib 4 rows

Cast off in rib

First sew the pockets to the legs in the middle so it will be on the sides when done. 

Sew the crotch, back and leg seams.

Mystery Knit #5

 

Materials:

8ply yarn (used Sean Sheep Acrylic) 3.25mm needles

Cast on 66sts

Rows 1 - 4: k

Row 5: k12, *k1, yo twice* rep *-* until last 13sts, k13

Row 6: k across and drop the yo

Rows 7 - 10: k

Cast off

Fold the 12sts at edges in half to make pockets and sew.  And you're done.

Row 3: k6, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, k2tog, k5

Row 4: p

Repeat these 4 rows another eight times

Next row: kfb, k7, yo, sl1, k2tog, psso, yo, k6, kfb (20sts)

Next row: p

Next row: k7, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, k2tog, k6

Next row: p

Next row: k9, yo, sl1, k2tog, psso, yo, k8

Next row: p

Next row: kfb, k6, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, k2tog, k6, kfb (22sts)

Next row: p

Next row: k10, yo, sl1, k2tog, psso, yo, k9

Start with a purl row and stst 3 rows

Next row: k8, k2tog, k16, k2tog, k8 (34sts)

Stst 3 rows

1x1 rib 4 rows

Cast off in rib. 

Sew seams

Row 4: p

Row 5: k3, yo, *k3, yo, k1, ssk, k1, yo* rep *-* end with k3

Row 6: p

Row 7: k5, *k2tog, k1, yo, k1, ssk, k2* rep *-* end with k2

Row 8: p

Row 9: k4, *k2tog, k1, (yo, k1) x2, ssk* rep *-* end with k3

Row 10: p

Cast on 16 sts

Garter st 16 rows

Next row: inc1, k to end

Next row: k

Repeat these two rows nine times more (26sts)

Cast on 10 sts, k to end

Garter st 3 rows

Cast off 20sts, k to end

Garter st 16 rows

Cast off

Sew back seam. Sew shoulder strap to back.
