8ply yarn in 2 colours (used Sean sheep and Birch print) 2mm needles button of hook and eye fastener
Abbreviations:
ssk - slip slip knit k2tog - knit 2 together (decrease) sl2 - slip 2 sts p2sso - pull 2 slipped sts over yo - yarn over k- knit p - purl sts - stitches
Tension test square:
8sts and 10 rows stst = 2.5 x 2.5cm
Cast on 37sts with colour 1
Garter st 2 rows
Change to colour 2
Work now in pattern:
Row 1: p
Row 2: k4, *ssk, yo, k1, yo, k2tog, k3* rep *-* across row, end with k1
Row 3: p
Row 4: k5, *yo, sl2, k1, p2sso, yo, k5* rep *-*
Row 5: p
Row 6: k4, *ssk, yo, k1, yo, k2tog, k3* rep *-* across row, end with k1
Row 7: p
Row 8: ssk, yo, k1, yo, k2tog, *k3, ssk, yo, k1, yo, k2tog* rep *-*
Row 9: p
Row 10: k1, *yo, sl2, k1, p2sso, yo, k5* rep *-* to last 4 sts, yo, sl2, k1, p2sso, yo, k1
Row 11: p
Row 12: ssk, yo, k1, yo, k2tog, *k3, ssk, yo, k1, yo, k2tog* rep *-*
Change to colour 1 and p 1 row
Next row: k2tog across, end with k1 (19sts)
Next row: p
Next row: k1, (yo, k2tog) across
Stst 3 rows
Next row: k4, cast off 2sts, k7, cast off 2sts, k4
Next row: k4, cast on 6sts, k7, cast on 6sts, k4
Garter st 2 rows
Cast off
Sew back seam until just above the eyelet row. Sew on a loop and button to top or hook and eye fastener.
Tread a piece of yarn through the eyelets.
