Materials:

4ply yarn (used Patons Big Baby) 2mm needles

Abbreviations: see post from 4 January 2024

Shorts

Begin with one leg

Cast on 24 sts

Garter stitch 4 rows

Stst 12 rows

Cast off 2 sts at beginning of next two rows.

Put sts on holder and knit another leg but Do Not Cut Yarn

Now knit over both legs (40sts)

Stst 5 rows

Next row: k9, k2tog, k18, k2tog, k9

Next row: p

Next row: k8, k2tog, k18, k2tog, k8 (36sts)

Next row: p

1x1 rib 2 rows

Cast off in rib. 

Sew crotch, back and leg seams. 

Shirt is from 18 January. Just changed the stst to another stitch pattern. 

For this one I changed the colour on the shorts legs for 2 rows then back to the main colour. Same shirt just knitted a picture into the front. 

These patterns also works for sleep wear. Shorts knitted with verigated yarn. Shirt in plain colour. Embroidered the sleepy face and added a bow.

Shirt

Cast on 26sts

Garter stitch 6 rows

Stst 30 rows

Garter stitch and cast on 10 sts at beginning of next two rows (46sts)

Garter stitch 10 rows

Now cast off for neck: 

K17, cast off 12sts, k17

Continue on one set of  17sts, leaving the others on a holder. 

Garter stitch 10 rows, cut yarn and keep sts on holder. 

Rejoin yarn to other set of 17sts

Garter stitch 10 rows, Do Not Cut Yarn

Next row: k17, cast on 12 sts, k17 from holder (46sts)

Garter stitch 10 rows

Garter stitch and cast off 10sts at beginning of next two rows (26sts)

Stst 30 rows

Garter stitch 6 rows

Cast off

Sew side and arm seams. 

Alternative 1

Change the stst rows to another stitch pattern. This is Lily of the valley stitch 

Alternative 2

Stst changed to another stitch pattern. 

Top front split into 2 after 2 rows of garter stitch and sewed buttons to one side.

Heart pattern dress

 

Materials:

4ply yarn (Patons Big baby) and 2mm needles

Tension:

2.5 x 2.5 cm square... 10sts and 12 rows of stst

Abbreviations: 

K – knit stst - stocking stitch p – purl rep – repeat k2tog – knit 2 stitches together

Sts – stitches 

Cast on 53 sts

Knit 4 rows garter stitch

Stst 6 rows

Begin pattern:

Row 1: k6, (p1, k9) x3, p1, k6

Row 2: p5, (k3, p7) x3, k3, p5

Row 3: k4, (p5, k5) x3, p5, k4

Row 4: p3, (k7, p3) across

Row 5: k3, (p7, k3) across

Row 6: p3, (k3, p1, k3,p3) across

Row 7: k4, (p1, k3, p1, k5) x3, p1, k3, p1, k4

Row 8: p

Stst 10 rows

Next row: (k1, k2tog) rep until last 2sts, k2 (36sts)

Next row: p

Garter stitch 6 rows

Stst 20 rows

Now divide and knit the top:

Row 1: k7, cast off 3, k8, leave rest on holder

Row 2: k1, k2tog, k5, cast on 8 new sts, k7

Row 3: k22

Row 4: k1, k2tog, k19

Row 5: k21

Row 6: k1, k2tog, k18

Row 7: k20

Cast off

Rejoin yarn to sts left on holder, k8, cast off 3, k7

Row 2: k7, cast on 8 new sts, k5, k2tog, k1

Row 3: k22

Row 4: k19, k2tog, k1

Row 5: k21

Row 6: k18, k2tog, k1

Row 7: k20

Cast off.

Sew back seam and darn away yarns. I embroidered around the hearts.

Knit 1 row garter st

Stst 16 rows

Cast off 2 sts at beginning of next two rows

Keep sts on a holder or spare needle and knit another leg the same, this time Do Not Cut Yarn

Now knit over both legs (40sts)

Begin with a purl row and stst 9 rows

1x1 rib 5 rows

Cast off in rib. 

Sew the crotch seam. Sew the back seam. Sew leg seams. 

Next week we will knit the shirt. 😊

Cast on 36sts

Knit 6 rows garther stitch 

Stst 24 rows

Knit 6 rows garther stitch 

Stst 20 rows

Next row: k8, cast off 3, k14, cast off 3, k8

Next row: k8, cast on 8sts, k14, cast on 8sts, k8 (46sts)

Knit 5 rows garther stitch 

Cast off

Sew back seam.

Alternative 1

Change the first garther stitch rows to rib, middle garther stitch rows to stst and top garther stitch rows to rib.  Make a belt to go with the dress. 

Alternative 2

Discard the middle garther stitch rows. Add cable pattern to middle of work. 

Alternative 3

Discard middle garther stitch rows. Change all stst rows to another stitch pattern. I used Seersucker stitch. 

1 pattern 4 different dresses. Enjoy!
